FASTeTEN presented at European Commission ICT for Government and Public Services workshop
e-Forum director Baudouin de Sonis represented the FASTeTEN project at a workshop on ICT for Government and Public Services, organised by the European Commission in Brussels on May 12, giving a presentation on the objectives and progress of FASTeTEN.
The objective of the workshop was to place an emphasis on the role of technological research in achieving efficiency in government processes. Efficiency itself can be represented by measures such as the reduction of the administrative burden, the reduction of software costs, the achievement of vendor independence, the reassignment of human resources towards more productive duties and others. The workshop focused in particular on success stories arising out of European Commission-funded research projects and support actions.
FASTeTEN is a project funded by the EU’s eTEN programme. It aims to deploy a bundle of services for secure electronic document exchange across Europe. The bundle of services, FAST - Fournisseur d’Accès Sécurisés Transactionnels (Secure Access Gateway) - has been successfully developed and piloted in France. As part of this project, two different applications of FAST are being trialed: in eProcurement in Valencia, Spain, and in educational services in Sheffield, United Kingdom. e-Forum is a partner in the FASTeTEN consortium.
